SACE Stage Two
-
Stage 2 (usually Year 12) represents the final year of the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). During Year 12, students complete the remaining credits needed to achieve the 200 credits required for SACE completion.
Students are required to undertake a minimum of four Stage 2 subjects. Each Stage 2 subject is studied across the full academic year and contributes 20 SACE credits toward the certificate.
-
Stage 2 subjects are assessed using a combination of school-based and external assessment to ensure fairness and consistency across South Australia.
70% of assessment tasks are set and marked by teachers and are externally moderated by SACE to ensure statewide standards are met
30% of assessment tasks, including examinations and investigations, are externally assessed by SACE-appointed markers
Student achievement is reported using grades from A+ to E-, aligned with SACE performance standards that describe the level of knowledge, understanding, and application demonstrated in each subject.
-
Students intending to pursue university or TAFE study after Year 12 are strongly encouraged to familiarise themselves with entry requirements, prerequisite subjects, and selection criteria early in the year. Subject choices and academic performance in Stage 2 play a significant role in determining future study options.
Throughout Year 12, students will continue to receive guidance and support focused on wellbeing, personal safety, and informed decision-making. This is delivered through the Child Protection Curriculum, embedded within Mentor Group sessions.

Detailed subject descriptions, assessment requirements, and course information are available in the Curriculum Guide and on the SACE website.
